Christina Darras is a multidisciplinary artist of Athenian Greek origin. She works in a range of mediums: painting, drawing, embroidery and installations, and has a sharp atmosphere of nostalgia through a whimsical narrative. She's not attached to a specific, recognisable style, as she's seeking an adventure to her visual paths. Her work aims to deliver the message and create the environment for emotional reactions. She likes simple thoughts, truthful feelings, dogs and chocolate. Christina also a jewellery designer and maker, enjoying the making of her one-off, colourful pieces. Le Flaneur, translates from French as 'the one who wanders with pleasure, with no defined destination'.

"Our lives are carefully planned, and we have goals to achieve, we are walking from A to B. The shock of Covid-19 and subsequent isolation changed our lives instantly and dramatically. There was no wandering outside; on the contrary people had plenty of time to wander inside their minds and their internal space. Le Flaneur - The Wanderer, has no specific facial features and no realistic body. This collection of works focuses on the abstraction of our existence - additionally, the loss of identity as a derivative of the social crisis. Our western minds crave identity. We look for it in our work, the way we dress, the way we speak and behave. What if there is no identity? Do we stop to exist? What if our identity is a multitude of situations and realities? Le Flaneur is attempting to find peace in a fluid identity. The colours of flesh and aqua are indicative of this attempt. The simplicity of forms is also a visualisation of existing without a tag. Maybe we don’t have to answer the question “who am I?”. I am Le Flaneur."
