Inner Mechanics
As a response to the pandemic and a way to make sense of things, I began exploring in visual form the phases of my states of mind through the lens of Jungian theory around the three parts of the psyche: the ego, the persona, and the shadow.
The paintings present as cards, such as tarot, which are historically used to seek answers: to quell uncertainty, to provide insight into complexity, as well as of course predict one's future. These icon images are symbols or 'out pictures' which signposted a before and an after state - pre-lockdown life, and across the threshold into the lockdown chaos.
